As a car owner, you probably drive your car to a workshop at least once a year. Sometimes you’re lucky and a check-up is just routine maintenance. Other times, there is more to it and the mechanic has to replace all kinds of parts. In that case, maintenance can become expensive because parts and the mechanic’s hours are not cheap. In both cases, the technician will order and replace the parts and you often don’t even know which brand they are using. And there are many brands to choose from. Some are better than the others, whilst others are unnecessarily expensive.

If you could choose yourself, which of course you can, which brand would be the best, knowing that quality is indispensable? After all, you don’t want your car to break down or, even worse, become a danger on the road. When you start searching, you will come across terms such as OEM and aftermarket. But what exactly does it mean? And what is the difference? When do you know you have the right quality? We can help you out!

Aftermarket parts or OE parts?

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. This manufacturer delivered the original parts for your car when it was first made. When a part needs to be replaced, the mechanic can choose to use a new original part or use an aftermarket part.

Aftermarket parts have been manufactured based on the OEM-specifications, not necessarily by OE manufacturers. And they can be the best choice! Aftermarket parts are usually less expensive, so you can save a lot of money. And the quality can be just as good or even exceed the quality of the original part.

Aftermarket parts are often used for cars whose warranty have expired, which is actually a waste of money for the owner because aftermarket parts can also be used during the warranty period. In fact, the European legislation BER2013 allows aftermarket car parts to be mounted under new cars before the car’s warranty has expired. Therefore, it is not necessary to use OEM parts during the warranty period.

Just make sure that you choose quality. After all, you want the best for your car and your safety. All of our parts are manufactured according to the OEM standards and made by IATF-certified suppliers. With our 35 years of knowledge and expertise, we are 100% convinced of our quality and guarantee you the best aftermarket parts with a unique warranty of 3 years.

IATF 16949 Certified suppliers

IATF 16949 is a quality standard within the automotive industry which applies to the suppliers within the supply chain (i.e. all companies that are dedicated to producing and supplying service parts and accessories to branded suppliers of end products (Original Equipment Manufacturers)). The standard describes the requirements for the design, development, production, installation and maintenance of automotive-related products. All of our products are manufactured by suppliers that are certified for this standard, guaranteeing us excellent quality.

IATF 16949 Certified suppliers

At Kavo Parts we do only work with IATF 16949 certified suppliers. Because, like you, we do not want to doubt the quality. The IATF 16949 is a technical ISO specification, which requires that you as a company record your business and production processes. This way you can make what you promise and deliver what the customer wants. The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) created the standard to drive improvements in the supply chain and in the certification process. IATF 16949 is relevant to all companies in the automotive supply chain, from small manufacturers to multinational companies with multiple locations, anywhere in the world. However, the standard applies only to those locations where production or service parts for the OEM market are produced.
